Well, obviously not. I mean, the guy walked onto the plane with bullets in his pocket for God's sake. If he got on with bullets he could have got on with a gun, both metallic, both show up on x-ray extremely well, both set off metal detectors pretty much instantly (which I guess means he didn't have to walk through one then?), but he basically waltzes through the airport and onto the plane.
